As a Los Angeles visitor or a transplant, some of the best things to indulge in while here are the health and wellness experiences the city offers. Whether you want beautiful views, a quick juice run, or some self-pampering, you can find exactly what you need.

Hiking
Runyon Canyon has a paved path that’s great for anyone at any level of hiking and dirt paths for those who want more of a challenge. On one of my trips, there were people doing energy healing at the entrance on my way out and it was a great way end to the workout.

Also, in Hollywood/West Hollywood, you can take a hike to THE Hollywood Sign. Multiple paths can get you in front of the sign for an Instagram banger or behind the sign if you’re an expert-level hiker.
Either way, prepare for a much longer distance than its neighbor Runyon. I also recommend doing a Google Search or watching some YouTube videos like I did to take down the exact directions to get you where you need to go or you might get lost.

Culver City Stairs is another location with amazing views and paths suitable for all difficulty levels and options for pavement, stairs, and dirt paths. If you have any fears of heights, I don’t recommend taking the stairs, as they are pretty steep and not the most reliable looking at first glance.
Hot Yoga
I didn’t discover hot yoga until living in this city, but I am so glad that I did because it’s a great way to sweat out those toxins and meditate while getting a workout. Note that hot yoga is HOT with temperatures up to 120 degrees in some classes. I’ve taken beginner level, advanced, and barre hot yoga classes and must say that they all helped in different ways.
Most studios offer a free week where you’re able to try distinct classes or locations. Do your research beforehand, so you can hydrate and know what to eat before going. What’s great about yoga, is if you’re having a hard time, you can always go into a child’s pose and if you absolutely must, you can walk out.

Beauty
Nothing like taking the time for some self-care. Treat Yo Self.
Heyday does a skin consultation as they start your facial and then use products based on your specific needs. The best part was the personalized email that I received after, with all recommendations of what I should add to my regime and how often they would like to see me come back.
PEACE of COLOR will get you right from lash extensions, facials, and waxing, to personal beauty products and accessories. PeaceOfColor has it all. Deshunaye is your girl for all of your beauty therapy needs, from the services, to the music and conversation.
Namaste Nail Sanctuary is by far my favorite place for nail care. It’s like going to a spa retreat for your regular Mani and Pedi. You can request to cover your eyes and ears for a guided meditation during your service. I typically watch home improvement shows with a blanket and tea while I get my gel fills. I have a membership, so I also have access to The Cocoon which is their meditation room.
Food
Simply Wholesome is a staple community restaurant and store on the corner of Slauson and Overhill. Shop, eat, and listen to an amazing playlist.
Kreation has plenty of healthy food options. You can get the meal, smoothie, or juice cleanse set that you need. There are locations all over the city, so you can always stop by a location. I love their smoothies, cookies, and delicious collagen water that tastes like lemonade.
I love to stop by Hot and Cool for tea when I’m in the neighborhood. It seems like there is always a band playing inside or nearby, something being filmed, or just friendly characters around to make you feel at home.
Vibe
Griffith Observatory is one of the best adult field trips! You have views of the entire city, telescopes throughout, small exhibits, and a planetarium if you’re up for a short adventure while inside.

Malibu If you need some stillness from the city, it’s always great to take a trip to Malibu. Chill at a much less crowded Zuma Beach or get dinner by the water at Moonshadows.
Bruce’s Beach has a deep history that you should look into before visiting. You can go down to enjoy a walk in the sand or go for a swim, but my favorite thing to do here is set up a blanket in the grassy area on the hill and watch the sunset.

This is truly one of the best cities to find peace and center yourself amidst all the lights, cameras, and action. There are endless options to promote your personal well being both inside and out. Now that you know what to do for your wellness while in Los Angeles, go and enjoy it!
